Monthly Digest – August 2016

Hey there! It’s been far too long, but I’ve found a few extra moments to sit down and write about what’s been going on these past couple of months. *Happy dance.*

Here’s the scoop!

Baby
Near the end of July, my husband and I welcomed our daughter, Calah, into the world. She came five days past her due date – despite my many attempts to encourage labor to start on its own – by way of induction. After lots and lots of pushing and what I thought might be the end for me (which is laughable now because looking back labor didn’t seem so bad), she entered the world and stole our hearts.

A photo I took of my husband holding Calah the day we were discharged from the hospital.

I cannot even begin to explain the joy she has brought us. Our days (and nights) are filled with crazy. I feel as though I dove head first into motherhood unsure of what to expect, but it has already given me back far more than I ever imagined.

I’M RAISING A HUMAN, PEOPLE. I vow to work tirelessly to ensure she grows up knowing she is loved, strong, smart, beautiful and, if she desires, capable of changing the world.

Stay tuned for a post about my hospital experience as a celiac.

Our *other* new baby
In other news, I accidentally knocked my eight-year-old laptop off the arm of the couch while attempting to nurse and label birth announcement envelopes at the same time. Unfortunately and fortunately for me, the screen completely shattered. So after dragging my feet for the past few years, we were finally left with no choice but to replace it. It’s what some might call a happy accident.

Our completed office space. Notice the new computer.

Now, our office space is finally complete and functional. I’m so happy with how it turned out.

The whole pregnancy/giving birth thing really put me in a bit of a rut, but the new computer inspired me to get back in the groove of blogging. I can’t wait to put this baby (the computer, not the infant I referred to above) to good use.

That’s all for now. I’ll write again soon!
