When I got married over a year ago, I thought it would be the last time I’d ever have to go through the process of changing my name.
I was wrong.
Last week, I was notified that I need to change my blog name. Turns out, Gluten-Free Hungry Girl is too similar to Hungry-Girl, which is a trademark protected name.
As you can imagine, I was disappointed to hear this, especially considering I was unaware of Hungry-Girl (and thought I was being super original) when I created my blog back in 2012.
Hungry-Girl agreed to let me change my name to Gluten-Free Hungry Gal.
I’ve already updated my social media accounts, so you can find me using the following links:
My web domain will soon follow suit and become glutenfreehungrygal.com. I hope to have it updated within a week.
So there it is. Please allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Gluten-Free Hungry Gal.
Even though I’m sad to have to make this change, I’m appreciative of how accommodating Hungry-Girl and her lawyer were in allowing me to preserve some of my brand image and use the name Gluten-Free Hungry Gal.
It just goes to show you that when people work together, it’s easy to solve problems without too much conflict. I admire and hope to work more with Hungry-Girl in the future.
After all, we’re just two hungry ladies that love food.
For more information about why I’m making this change, refer to the email exchange between Hungry-Girl’s lawyer and me below:
I bet you thought this post was going to be about a divorce. Not in this lifetime. 😉
